On This Day
Villa rush into a two goal lead after another brace from John Gregory but Eddie Gray and Leeds mount a second half comeback and a frustrating defensive game to take a point from a game Villa should have run away with.
Ron Saunders' Villa go five games unbeaten to make it seven wins, nine draws and five defeats in twenty one division one games this season.
What they Said
“We played some tremendous soccer before the interval, but so did Leeds in the second half.
“We tried hard to carry on where we had left off, but we caught a cold and left gaps.
“We just stopped ticking and they played like the old Leeds we knew."
Ron Saunders.
Fan-tactic view for man in the spotlight
A football supporter decided to have a bird's eye view of the Aston Villa v Leeds match at Villa Park yesterday and climbed up a floodlight pylon.
Police and his brother tried gentle persuasion to bring him down but it needed the assistance of the fire service to help him to descend the last 20 ft. or so.
The man was taken to Queen's Road Police Station. Aston, but was later released.
