Villa are April fools
ASTON VILLA made April fools of themselves yesterday by losing at home to relegation battlers Manchester City . . . and to make matters worse their ace winger Tony Daley left Villa Park on crutches.
However Daley said that the injury to his left foot was not as bad as it looked and that he shouldnโt be out for very long.
However even with Daley, title hopefuls Villa were simply atrocious.
They were outplayed and outfoxed by a City team that are typically nailed on for relegation to give them their first away win of the season
Villa took the lead against the run of play in the 12th minute when Gordon Cowans scored after some mesmerising work by David Platt.
City surprisingly equalised 14 minutes later with a strike from Mark Ward. The goal that gave City their victory came in the 80th minute when veteran Peter Reid rammed the ball past the helpless Nigel Spink.
