What they Said
"TWO superb goals from Southampton ... made up for a first half penalty miss by Paul Rideout against his former club Aston Villa"
TWO superb goals from Southampton midfielders Glenn Cockerill and Jimmy Case made up for a first half penalty miss by Paul Rideout against his former club Aston Villa in the Barclays League Division 1 last night.
Rideout missed from the spot after Rodney Wallace was brought down in the fourth minute by Bernie Gallacher.
Cockerill volleyed a cross from Danny Wallace past Nigel Spink, and 13 minutes later Case hit a brilliant shot into the top left hand comer from 30 yards.
Five minutes from the end David Platt pulled a goal back for Aston Villa, converting a pass from Adrian Heath.
