“In Cup ties it’s all about winning.
“We are in the fourth round and that is the important thing.
“He [Tony Daley] is growing in maturity all the time and this was a super display from him.”

ASTON VILLA kept their FA Cup - league title double dream alive by beating Blackburn 3-1 at Villa Park, but they were indebted to a second half penalty miss by Frank Stapleton.
With Villa leading 2-1, Stapleton had a 69th spot kick superbly saved by Nigel Spink, and then David May completed Rovers' misery with an own goal.
*Evening Herald (Dublin)*
Thursday, 11 January 1990
Villa, inspired by the speed of Tony Daley, emerged as one of the Cup favourites with an impressive 3-1 win over plucky Blackburn to earn a fourth round home tie against Port Vale.
Daley destroyed Blackburn with his speed, and was later highly praised by Aston Villa's manager, Graham Taylor, who said: "Daley was obviously in the mood and he was our match-winner." After Stapleton's miss, Blackburn suffered further cruel luck when, in the last minute, David May put through his own goal following a hard cross from man-of-the-match Daley.
