Villa sweep aside the League Cup holders at Villa Park and gain revenge for their defeat at Maine Road two games earlier as Brian Little puts on a long overdue masterclass that his skills deserved. His first an acrobatic volley leaving the ‘keeper with no chance, his second simply sublime. Back to goal on the edge of the area, Little received the ball from Chris Nicholl, back heeled it, turned to set himself free and buried it past a helpless Corrigan.
