Villa lose for the first time in 1949-50 as they suffer grave misfortune against Derby for the second time this season and second time in three division one matches.
Villa take the lead, then lose Les Smith after just 5', and play the entire game with 10 men and also miss a first half penalty.
To make matters even more galling it is former Villa favourite Frank Broome who sets up Derby's equaliser. Derby then take the lead after a foul on Con Martin ends in an errant backpass before the another backpass, this time from Frank Moss, puts Derby 1-3 ahead.
Incessant attacking from the far superior Villa side however can do nothing to stop their 18 match undefeated run.
