Jimmy Harrison
Player #422 for Aston Villa, James Charles Harrison known as Jimmy Harrison, played as a full back for the club between 1949-50 and 1949-50 making 8 appearances and scoring once.
Well built and hard kicking but also a stylish defender, Jimmy first learned his trade with Leicester schools before joining hometown club Leicester City. Initially a forward, and used as such by Leicester in their 1948-49 FA Cup final appearance, Jimmy was eventually found more often in the left back berth a position he would take up in his single season in the Villa first team of 1949-50.
Jimmy was born in Leicester on 12 February 1921 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 20 August 1949 at the age of 28.
Villa had signed Jimmy from Leicester City in July 1949 for a fee of £12,000.
Despite the hefty transfer fee Jimmy only played 8 times for the first team scoring once in the away draw with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, 3 December 1949.
Jimmy played his final game for Villa on Wednesday, 8 March 1950 and in July 1951 moved on to Coventry City having not made another appearance for the club.
Jimmy had played under manager Alex Massie.
Jimmy passed away in Leicester on 19 July 2004 aged 83.
