Match Report
Villa suffered a heavy defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Under-18 Premier League South at Bodymoor Heath on Saturday. The Seagulls scored twice in each half, leading at halftime with goals from Isaiah Alakiu and Sebastian Ademola. After the break, further goals from Theo Outen and Henry Kasvosve gave Brighton complete control. Finlay Barnard scored for Villa, who now sit eighth in the standings.
Brighton dominated early, forcing Owen Asemota into a couple of saves as they aimed to surpass Villa in the league table. Markie Meade’s shot was dragged wide, and Oscar Johnson forced a save from William Rutter after breaking through. In the 32nd minute, Albion took the lead when Billy-Ray Cullinane’s free-kick bounced in the box, and Alakiu blasted the ball past Asemota. Just before halftime, Cullinane’s set piece again caused chaos, leading Ademola to scramble home as Villa struggled to clear.
Right after the restart, Brighton pressed again, with Asemota tipping a long-range shot onto the crossbar. The visitors soon scored their third goal from a left-wing attack, with Outen tapping in across the goal on 49 minutes. Kasvosve added a fourth after over an hour, executing a drag back in the box before shooting into the top corner. Alfie Lynskey’s volley went wide as Villa searched for a response, but they finally scored in the 74th minute when Barnard collected his own rebounded header, calmly slotting into the bottom corner to make it 4-1. Despite their efforts, Villa couldn’t add to their score and ultimately suffered defeat.
