Match Report:
Villa continued a winning start to their Under-18 Premier League Cup campaign on Saturday, with an impressive 7-1 victory over Newcastle United at Bodymoor Heath.
After a tight, even opening period, Richard Beale’s Young Lions hit another level after the break, with six unanswered second-half goals sealing a rampant triumph.
Markie Meade broke the deadlock for Villa five minutes in, before the hosts were pegged back by Thomas Old’s strike on 25 minutes.
But goals after the break from Teddie Bloomfield, Jack McGrath (2), substitute Dan Adediran and Meade (2) completing his hat-trick made it three wins on the spin for the youngsters. 
Beale’s boys made a dream start to affairs at the club’s training base, finding the lead just five minutes in.
The Villans won back possession high up the field on the edge of the area through Fletcher Boyd. He teed up Meade, who made no mistake when one-on-one.
The hosts were controlling affairs and thought they had a second midway through the opening period when McGrath finished off a neat team move at the far post, only to be denied by the assistant’s offside flag.
And the Young Lions would be made to rue their close encounter two minutes later when Newcastle drew level, Adedamola Ireoluwa sending a free-kick into the area which was glanced into the far corner by Old.
Villa quickly went back on the offensive and sought out a second goal. A minute after conceding, home goalkeeper Roman Dowell pulled off a superb double save to deny Meade when one-on-one, before keeping out McGrath’s follow-up from point-blank range.
The final opportunity of the opening period fell the way of the visitors when Alfie Seldon couldn’t quite steer his effort inside the near post, as a finely-poised first half drew to a close with the scores level.
Despite not starting the second period as quickly as they did the first, Villa found a more clinical edge after the break to put up an impressive scoreline.
The first real chance of the second 45 fell the way of the visitors, with Theo Houston getting down well to tip Alex O’Donovan’s effort around the post.
But just three minutes later, Villa had the lead again on the hour mark when McGrath was played through by Boyd and made no mistake to turn the tide back in favour of the home side.
Seldon’s fierce, long-range effort rattled the crossbar a minute later, before O’Donovan rolled an effort wide just after, as the Magpies threatened to draw level for a second time, but it was all Villa from then on as they went on to tie up a comfortable victory.
After Meade had been denied twice in quick succession by Dowell in the visiting net, the Villans made it three with 20 minutes to play, as Bloomfield fired an effort into the far corner off the inside of the post.
Less than a minute later, Meade had a deserved second of the game when finishing high off the underside of the crossbar, having been found by Alfie Lynskey. Ten minutes from time, McGrath had his second of the affair, finding the top corner brilliantly from the edge of the area.
With two minutes to play, Meade completed his hat-trick after being found in the area by Bloomfield, before substitute Adediran rounded off a superb second-half showing in stoppage time, picking up a loose ball inside the area and finishing past Dowell.
The victory all but secures Villa’s progression into the knockout stages of the Premier League cup from Group B with two wins from their opening two matches.
