Tony Barton's Villa, reigning European Champions, suffer a second successive defeat at the start of the 1982-83 campaign as they are hammered by Everton, failing to score for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Kenny Swain made his final appearance for Villa aged 30 before moving on to Nottingham Forest in early 1983 for a fee of £25,000.
Swain played for Villa between 1978-79 and 1982-83 making 179 appearances and scoring 5 goals whilst winning the Division One title and European Cup.
