Aston Villa sack four staff EUROPEAN football champions Aston Villa have sacked four members staff in what is being seen as an attempt to plug a spate of Information leaks to the Press. A brief statement from the club yesterday said two staff members of Aston Villa PC and two of the Aston Villa Development Association, who run the club's lottery, had been interviewed at the club’s ground in Birmingham and dismissed for breaches of internal discipline The four sacked by Aston Villa are: Mr Charles Tabberner. co-ordinator of the supporters' clubs, internal accountant Mr David Smith, promotions manager Mr Keith Smith and his assistant Mr Peter Young. Mr Keith Smith, a former West Bromwich Albion player, said “It is unbelievable. We feel have been made the scapegoats to take the heat off the other activities going on at the club shall fight this all the way.'' The statement on the sackings said the move followed a club investigation into unauthorised disclosures of confidential information. Villa's directors have become increasingly concerned alter several newspapers received copies of a confidential report. The document, concerning accounting procedure at the club, was drawn up by the club's accountant for the main board. A subsequent report was also leaked. Officers from the West Midlands Police commercial branch, are now carrying out an official Inquiry into building work at the club's ground, Villa Park. In a recent report. Villa's auditors said the £838.000 project was all supported by approved invoices, but added that better planning and control would have led to savings of up to 10%.”
