MATCHDAY QUOTES
“It was over the line before Andy touched it.”
Frank Carrodus.
"Each night I have to slip a plank under the mattress and I will have to continue doing so for another two to three months.
"It's part of the treatment for an injury I suffered a few months ago to one of my vertebrae. The funny thing is that I still can't touch my toes and yet it doesn't seem to affect my football.
"There's no way that Frank scored. I'm paid to finish off moves and that's just what I did.
“Anyway, if you're playing at Anfield and you're on the winning side and you think you've scored you're not going to give up a goal to anyone!”
Andy Gray.
"After 19 games for us and internationals as well John [Deehan] was shattered and he really needed a rest.
“That's why I brought in Gordon [Cowans] on the left. It was the first time this season that we have had four men in midfield, and it worked.
“In fact I think that it was our most professional performance of the season.”
Ron Saunders.
