Villa beat Chelsea to record their first win in six League games but do so in front of their lowest crowd of the season - 27,375. Happily though there is no dodgy refereeing to spoil the entertainment.
Villa make it fourteen wins, ten draws and thirteen defeats in thirty seven division one games this season under Ron Saunders.
Gordon Cowans contributes his 10th goal involvement in a Villa shirt on his 50th start (64 Appearances) to make it W28 D15 L21, 7 Goals and 3 Assists so far in his Villa career.

“We seem to be getting a lot more understanding and rhythm in out play.
“It’s important that we sort ourselves out for the start of next season.
“We knew it would be a hard game against Chelsea because they ended the points so badly so I think the lads tried that little but harder.”
Brian Little.
“It was a very good goal. He [Gordon Cowans] took it well.
“We created a lot of chances and controlled 75 per cent of the play, therefore, I though we deserved the result.”
Ron Saunders.
