Unbelievable, a set of officials you barely noticed. This would catch on if they gave it a chance, I reckon.

Scenes

What they said

"Good evening. Now we are in the top eight and we want to finish first. And of course to keep going with our mentality here at home with our support and we must play to transmit our energy.
"We have made some changes but overall we are playing with players who are used to playing in different competitions."

Unai Emery, pre-match

"It's a really nice moment for him; he works hard in training and gives his all. He is probably a bit shy and nervous more than I'd like, but he shows his quality in training.
"We know he's got the ability; it's about applying himself. I knew he was locked in and engaged, and that's what we want from him.
"Sometimes he can get a bit disengaged - that's where you can probably lose it. As a young player, I was exactly the same; when you get older, you are focused more.
"He was focused the moment he came on, and it was a really nice moment for him.
"I've taken a shine to him; he's a really nice kid, and we like when we train with him and want him to do well."

Morgan Rogers on match-winner Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba

“It’s a lovely moment for Jama.
“Obviously, we see the hard work he puts in day in, day out.
“The manager is very hard on him, as are the rest of us, because we know his potential.
“But it’s a lovely moment for him.”

Tyrone Mings on Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba

"I'm very happy and of course today was a match played with some potential players we have who are young in the academy, developing with them.
"And today they had an opportunity to play, George [Hemmings], then Jamal [Jimoh-Aloba] and Kadan [Young]. Of course, Jamal scored a goal, which was really fantastic.
"We were expecting a difficult match because they needed to win. They are brave playing forward. They were trying to get into individual duels with us.
"In Europe, with the experiences we have, we know how difficult each match is. Today, playing 90 minutes, creating this energy with our supporters is something we can feel, and as a competition where we can be protagonists and get something.
"It is necessary to give them chances, and those three players play, George and then Jamal and Kadan, I think it's a good opportunity for them. They got experiences and played how we needed in the plan we have with them.
"To get a victory, to play with some players like them and create in this competition something with our supporters' feelings for it... I think it is very important.
"It's very important to have chances to play the young players, the opportunity for them to show their progress. I think they did a very good job
"We have a plan with them. We need to protect them when they are playing. We need as well to get a plan in their development as a player, every day training with us and then in official matches like today. It was fantastic how we did everything."

Unai Emery, post-match.

“One side is this competition, and we want to try to get through it our way, being protagonists and of course getting a way for a trophy, getting a way for play and be getting emotion with our supporters.
“And we got it, because today we won, and as well we created some emotions with our supporters, with the energy after we were losing 2-0 to react.
“How we came back, the result I thought it was really fantastic, sharing everything with our supporters and transmitting them our energy, and they were transmitting us as well their feelings.
“This is the way we want to build here, in this competition, in Villa Park, with our supporters, trying to get so, so motivated for this competition, and today was a fantastic day for it.”

Unai Emery, post-match.

The Last Word

"It's a proud moment for me on my European debut. It's just really nice to make my family proud and stuff because of all the hard work. I've had a lot of lows this season and a lot of highs, but this is the top."
