David Anderson

Player #24 for Aston Villa, David Walter Anderson, played as a midfielder for the club in a position that was then known as a wing half. Thomas represented Villa five times during the 1882-83 FA Cup campaign.

David was born in Hockley, less than three miles from Villa’s current ground, in 1861 and made his debut as a 21 year old on 21st October 1882.

Villa had signed David from Hockley Belmont.

David’s final game for Villa came on the 3rd March 1883 before moving on to Abbey FC.

David played in the era when team selection was made by a Management Committee rather than the latter day more typical Manager role.
