Villa suffer a shock defeat to Brighton and the never knowingly right Alan Mullery makes his usual preposterous claims.
Villa though "shouldnโt be losing to such a lowly side if they have title ambitions" but the adage of playing poorly and winning is not yet in their armoury after a Kenny Swain error gifts the home side the lead.
Ron Saunders' Villa lose for the third time in six to make it thirteen wins, five draws and five defeats in twenty three League matches this season. As a result Villa fall back to second place in the Division One table, one point behind new leaders Liverpool.
