Player #864 for Aston Villa, Ryan Dominic Bertrand played as a left back for the club in Villaโs 2013-14 Premier League campaign making 16 appearances.
Bertrand was born in London on 5 August 1989
Paul Lambert had signed Bertrand on loan from Chelsea in January 2014 for the remainder of the 2013-14 in what for Lambert was a surprisingly coherent and effective transfer deal.
Bertrand played in 16 of Villaโs final 17 Premier League games, missing only Villaโs 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday, 15 March 2014 as part of the terms of his loan deal.
Bertrand made his debut in the 2-2 Premier League draw at Liverpool on Saturday, 18 January 2014 and across his 16 game Villa career would see Villa win 3, draw 3 and lose 10 including seven of their last 9 Premier League games in the 2013-14 season, scoring 7 and conceding 23 as the disjointed and patchy squad that Lambert had created couldnโt be saved by Bertrandโs presence.
Bertrand made his final appearance for Villa on Sunday, 11 May 2014 aged 24 in the 0-3 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur before returning to Chelsea.
