Ray Hogg

Player #449 for Aston Villa, Anthony Raymond Hogg, known as Ray Hogg, played as a right back for the club.

Ray played for Villa between 1954-55 and 1956-57 making 21 appearances.

Ray was born in Lowick, Northumberland on 11 December 1929 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 26 March 1955 aged 25.

Villa had signed Ray from Berwick Rangers earlier in March 1955 and he went on to make just one appearance in his debut season.

Although Ray made his most appearances in the 1956-57 season they were all in the league meaning he didn’t feature in that year’s victorious FA Cup campaign when Villa won the Cup for a record seventh time.

Ray had played under Villa manager Eric Houghton.

Ray passed away in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 10 March 2013 aged 83.
