Kyle Walker
Player #830 for Aston Villa, Kyle Andrew Walker played as a right back for the club during the 2010-11 campaign making 18 appearances and scoring twice.
Walker was born in Sheffield on 28 May 1990 and was signed by Gérard Houllier on on a 5 month loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur on 5 January 2011 aged 20.
Walker’s signature was something of a departure for Houllier, a genuine prospect with youth on his side and a fierce desire to prove his worth.
In contrast to Houllier’s other signings - Robert Pirès, Jean Makoun, Michael Bradley - Walker was a breath of fresh air and made an immediate impact during his loan spell.
Walker made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 8 January 2011 against his boyhood club Sheffield United in the FA Cup 3rd Round - scoring Villa’s opening goal.
Walker featured in 18 of Villa’s 20 squads to the season end and added his second goal for the club just a few days after his first as his 72’ strike earned Villa a draw with Fulham on Saturday, 5 February 2011.
Walker would show excellent promise during his loan spell as his raw talent and speed shone through, he would contribute 3 assists striking up a particularly effective supply line with fellow new boy Darren Bent.
Walker made his final appearance for Villa on Sunday, 22 May 2011 as the season ended on a high note with consecutive victories over Arsenal and Liverpool which put the gloss on a campaign where Walker’s performances were one of the few genuine highlights.
Walker returned to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the campaign where his progress continued ahead of a record breaking move to money-bags Manchester City for £47.43m in the Summer of 2017.
