For the love of God, Gerrard MUST GO NOW

All we can say in response to Gerrard’s post match interview is this is a guy suffering from absolute delusion.
No one with the club’s best interests at heart can possibly claim there is any benefit to keeping Gerrard in post.
Indeed if the horrendous rumours are true the further dismantling of this squad over the coming five days is reason enough outside of his appalling performance records to get him gone.
Has anyone ever hoped illness on someone as much as we do today on Tyrone Mings? As much as we love the guy, anything other doesn’t bear thinking about.
Yet at today’s game the ire and fire has turned to Purslow. The anger has already left the manager. That is clearly hopeless. Now the focus is on the CEO. This never ends well.
Not that it is a surprise, after all Purslow is the chief instigator of the failed Gerrard experiment.
We are tired with repeating ourselves but it was patently obvious at the end of 2021-22 that Gerrard was a seriously poor choice of manager.
It’s not hindsight, we warned about it then. We deserve no congratulations but just implore those not yet convinced to listen.
2022-23 could so easily become 2015-16 all over again.
The disgrace that that would represent however would far exceed the shame of life under Sherwood and Garde who took to the Premier League with a mismatched squad, lacking talent, ability, humility and application.
Nothing will ever compare to the utter ridiculousness of that 2015-16 squad being expected to be competitive at any level of football.
(As for one of that squad Micah Richards talking up Gerrard and another 15 games… well we might as well bring in Joleon Lescott as defensive coach).
2022-23 couldn’t be more different, despite threatening the same.
We still have the final remnants of the best squad we have had in decades.
We don’t need £70m players, we just need sound coaching, a collective atmosphere and players being allowed to play in a formation and style that suits their talents.
Jump on the backs of the players all you want if that’s your way of supporting the club, but make no mistake this is all down to one man’s arrogance and another man’s entitlement.
The owners and the fans deserve so much more than this.
