Villa have confirmed the much-anticipated signing of 19-year-old Brazilian winger Alysson or Alysson Edward Franco da Rocha to give him his full name.

Alysson signs from Brazilian Série A side Grêmio, for whom he has made 36 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice.

Thirteen of his 34 Série A appearances have come as a substitute, having made his debut in July 2024; however, his regular appearances in the side began in April 2025, from when he missed just three of 35 games through injury or suspension.

Alysson collected six yellow cards in 31 games for Grêmio in 2025, having played as right wing, right midfield, attacking midfield and even centre forward, just the sort of versatility that Unai Emery loves in a player.

Alysson's only goal for Grêmio came in September, in the 3-2 Série A win over Sporting Club Internacional, scoring the winning goal on 62 minutes, just seconds after coming on, after the home side had gone ahead with two first-half penalties, and a superb goal it truly was:
