Player #49 for Aston Villa, Walter William Ashmore played as a goalkeeper for the club. Walter represented Villa once during the 1888-89 season.
Walter was born in Smethwick in 1867 and made his only appearance as a 21 year old on 22nd September 1888.
Villa had signed Walter from West Bromwich Standard.
Walter was the ninth custodian of the Villa goal in League and FA Cup football and conceded once in his single appearance for Villa before moving on to Aston Unity FC.
Walter played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Walter passed away in 1940 aged 73.
