Sammy Gray
Player #58 for Aston Villa, Franklin James Samuel Gray, known as Sammy Gray and Frank Gray, played as a forward for the club. Sammy represented Villa twice during the 1889-90 season.
Sammy was born in Oldbury, just seven miles from Villaโs current ground, in September 1868 and made his debut as a 21 year old on 21st September 1889.
Villa had signed Sammy from West Bromwich United.
Sammyโs final game came just 7 days after his debut before moving on to Birmingham St. Georgeโs.
Sammy played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Sammy passed away in Birmingham in 1925 aged 57.
