Joe was born in Evesham on 21 January 1932 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Monday, 19 April 1954 aged 22.
Hailing from Evesham, Joe came to Villa’s attention playing for Bretforton Old Boys in the Worcester League and signed professional forms with the club in June 1950.
Joe began life in Villa’s amateur side and showed great promise as an inside forward with the know how required to score goals.
Joe made 4 appearances and scored all his goals for the club in his debut season.
Thereafter appearances dried up and he was to play only 3 more times for Villa with his final game coming on Saturday, 3 September 1955 after which Joe moved on to Millwall in March 1956.
Joe had played under Villa manager Eric Houghton.
