Player #318 for Aston Villa, Joseph Robinson Nicholson, known as Joe Nicholson, played as a centre forward for the club.
Joe played for Villa in 1926-27 making just one appearance.
Joe was born in Ryhope, Sunderland on 4 June 1898 and he made his sole appearance for Villa on the opening day of the 1926-27 season on 28 August 1926 aged 28.
Villa had signed Joe from Cardiff City in June 1926 in exchange for Villa midfielder George Blackburn who moved the other way.
Nicholson was however not to repeat Blackburnโs contribution of 145 appearances and moved on to Bangor City in August 1927 without adding to his appearances.
Joe had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee.
Joe passed away in Durham in 1974 aged 76.
