Fred Marshall

Player #70 for Aston Villa, Frederick Arnold Marshall, known as Fred Marshall played as a winger for the club. Walter represented Villa three times during the 1890-91 season.

Fred was born in Walsall, just nine miles from the current Villa ground, on 1st August 1870 and made his debut as a 20 year old on 6th September 1890.

Villa had signed Fred from Wednesbury Old Athletic before moving on to Birmingham St. George’s.

Fred’s final game came just 3 weeks after his debut on 27th September 1890.

Fred played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Fred passed away in Wednesbury in 1941 aged 71.
