Franklin Brookes
Player #20 for Aston Villa, Franklin Brookes played as a forward for the club. Franklin represented Villa on a single occasion during the 1881-82 FA Cup campaign.
Franklin was born in Aston, less than a mile from Villa’s current ground, on 1st February 1859 and made his first and last appearance as a 22 year old on 7th January 1882.
Villa had signed Franklin from Wesleyan Chapel FC but he soon moved on to Centaurs FC of Smethwick without adding to his appearances.
Franklin played in the era when team selection was made by a Management Committee rather than the latter day more typical Manager role.
Franklin passed away in 1920 in Birmingham aged 61.
