Villa had signed Bill from Buxton FC in January 1926 and was the 36th custodian of the Villa goal in League and Cup football.
Across his 4 appearances for Villa he conceded 7 goals at a rate of 1.75 per game.
Bill played his final game for Villa on 27 December 1927, just over a year after his debut and moved on to Charlton Athletic in August 1928.
Bill had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee.
Bill passed away in 1967 aged 65.
