Arthur was born in Birmingham, just three miles from Villa’s current ground, in June 1867 and made his single appearance as a 22 year old on 30th November 1889.

Villa had signed Arthur from Birmingham Waterworks FC.

Arthur left Villa for Rugby Wanderers having played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Arthur passed away in Warwick in 1940 aged 73.
