Arthur Dixon
Player #50 for Aston Villa, Arthur Albert Dixon known as Arthur Dixon played as a midfielder for the club in a position then known as wing half. Arthur represented Villa three times, scoring once during the 1888-89 season.
Arthur was born in Matlock, Derbyshire in July 1867 and made his debut as a 21 year old on 15th September 1888.
Villa had signed Arthur from Derby Midland.
His debut in the 5-1 defeat of Stoke meant Arthur became the youngest player to date to play for the Villa in the League at 21 years and 62 days old. Arthur chipped in with his only goal for the club on his debut for good measure.
Arthur’s final game for Villa came just a fortnight after his debut on the 29th September 1888. Ironically Arthur moved on to Stoke.
Arthur played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Arthur passed away in 1933 aged 66.
