Player #860 for Aston Villa, Nicklas Helenius Jensen known as Nicklas Helenius played as a centre forward in Villa’s 2013-14 Premier League season making 6 appearances and scoring once.

Nicklas was born in Svenstrup on 8 May 1991.

Paul Lambert had signed Nicklas from Aalborg BK for £1,350,000 in July 2013 and like so many signings under Lambert’s bewildering regime, Helenius was out of his depth with Villa, so much so that it really wasn’t fair to the player. Put out of his misery after six months and returning to the club from whence he came.

Lambert named Helenius in 23 of Villa’s first 29 squads of the 2013-14 season but he only made six substitute appearances and failed to make a single start for Villa during his time with the club.

Helenius’ first appearance came as an 83’ substitute for Ashley Westwood in Villa’s 0-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, 24 August 2013 aged 22.

As a substitute Helenius was given plenty of time to influence a game, coming on in the 67’ 61’ 46’ 77’ and 60’ over his five other appearances however Helenius scored just once, against lower league opposition Sheffield United in Villa’s 1-2 FA Cup 3rd Round loss on Saturday, 4 January 2014.

That would proved to be Helenius’ last action in a Villa shirt before being sent back to the club from whom Villa bought him Aalborg Boldspilklub on loan ahead of a free transfer in July 2015 aged 24.
