"That was a prelude to a period of intense Villa pressure and Andy Townsend held his head in despair after he blasted over the top following a great set-up from Milosevic."
*Sunday Mirror*
Sunday, 20 April 1997
It was the Londoners who took the lead completely against the run of play when £3 million defender Vega arrived in the box to glance home a fine header. That was a prelude to a period of intense Villa pressure and Andy Townsend held his head in despair after he blasted over the top following a great set-up from Milosevic.
But Villa got their reward as frustrated fans began to believe all was lost on a day when the club was celebrating its 100th anniversary [sic]. After Staunton had got away down the right and crashed in a first time effort, the ball rebounded to Dwight Yorke, who crashed in a fierce eight-yard volley.
