Villa endured a 4-1 defeat against Liverpool at St Helens Stadium in the Women’s Super League. The visitors fell two goals behind within 14 minutes, with Mia Enderby scoring from six yards and Martha Thomas adding a well-executed finish. Miri Taylor brought Villa back into the game with a superb right-footed strike from just inside the box before halftime. Despite their efforts, Natalia Arroyo’s side couldn't level the score, with Grace Fisk volleying Liverpool’s third in the 86th minute and Aurelie Csillag adding a late fourth during injury time. Liverpool, who started the day at the bottom of the WSL table, left Villa suffering their fourth consecutive loss. They now aim to rebound at home against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend. The hosts began strongly, with Enderby narrowly missing wide after an energetic run. She scored in the ninth minute, finishing Ceri Holland’s cross from six yards to give Liverpool an early lead. The Reds doubled their advantage five minutes later when Martha Thomas scored an acrobatic finish from close range after intercepting Holland’s cross. Sabrina D’Angelo tipped over a shot from Alejandre Bernabe in the 21st minute. Villa, with Lucy Parker as the only change from the previous match, started to find their rhythm as the first half progressed. Just before halftime, Villa reduced the deficit with a stunning finish from Taylor, who received a cross from Kirsty Hanson, controlled it at the edge of the area, and fired into the top corner. Noelle Maritz was introduced at halftime, but shortly after, D’Angelo suffered a collision and was replaced by Ellie Roebuck. Georgia Mullett tested Falk early in the second half. Arroyo then brought on Chasity Grant and Jenna Nighswonger in an effort to find an equaliser. Liverpool nearly scored again when Holland shot close to the near post. Hanson forced Falk into a low save in the 76th minute, but Liverpool secured their third goal late in the game when Fisk volleyed from 16 yards after a goalmouth scramble. Csillag sealed the result with a late goal, racing onto a throughball and scoring in the seventh minute of added time.
