Match Report:
Villa secured their place in the Under-18 Premier League Cup final following a dramatic 3-2 semi-final triumph at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Omari Kellyman fired the Young Lions into the lead just after the half-hour mark, only for the Addicks to hit back on the stroke of half-time.
Rory Wilson’s 64[^th]-minute penalty restored Villa’s advantage before the hosts levelled once again to set up a dramatic finale.
And Kadan Young duly sealed Villa’s spot in the final with a superb 81[^st]-minute winner, before then seeing red late on.
Villa will now face either Sheffield United or Tottenham Hotspur in the showpiece as they look to secure Premier League Cup success.
Villa struck the first blow in an enthralling semi-final encounter midway through the first half, Kellyman reacting quickest to fire home from six yards after Charlton could only half-clear a corner.
Yet the home side responded just before the break, Kai Enslin ensuring it was all square heading into the interval.
Villa regained their lead shortly after the hour, Wilson slamming home a spot-kick after Charlie Lutz had been fouled in the penalty area.
However, Villa’s lead lasted just 10 minutes as Finley Munroe’s own goal ensured the semi-final tie was level heading into the final stages.
But Young stepped up with a moment of brilliance nine minutes from time, picking up the ball on the left and surging forwards into the penalty area, before cutting inside and firing into the top corner.
The youngster’s afternoon was ended early, however, as he saw red in the 89[^th] minute.
