William Littlewood

Player #236 for Aston Villa, William Littlewood played as a defender for the club.

William played for Villa between 1911-12 and 1914-15 making 51 appearances for the club.

William was born in Aston, less than a mile from Villa Park, in December 1892 and he made his debut appearance for Villa at the age of 19 on the 6th April 1912.

Villa had signed William from Worcester City in 1910 however it was to be season 1914-15 before William’s Villa career took off - making 34 appearances in the league and 2 in the cup, more than double his contribution over the previous 3 seasons combined.

That was also to be William’s last season with Villa as WW1 interrupted his career.

William’s final game for Villa came on 28th April 1915 aged just 22.

William played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

William moved on to Wellington town in August 1920 without making a further appearance for Villa.

William passed away in Shrewsbury in 1949 aged 57.
