Player #199 for Aston Villa, Rowland Richard George Harper, known as Roly Harper played as a winger for the club in the outside right position.

Roly played for Villa twice during the 1907-08 season.

Roly was born in Lichfield, just 14 miles from Villa Park, in April 1881 and made his debut for the club at the age of 26 on the 14th September 1907.

Villa had signed Roly from Burton United.

Roly played his final game for Villa on 18th January 1908 and moved on to Notts County along with Jimmy Cantrell in March 1908.

Roly played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Roly passed away in Birmingham in August 1959 aged 68.
