Reg Miles

Player #341 for Aston Villa, Reginald Miles, known as Reg Miles, played as a goalkeeper for the club. Reg played for Villa in 1930-31 making 16 appearances.

Reg was born in Enfield, Middlesex on 8 July 1905 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 24 January 1931 aged 25.

Villa had signed Reg from he British Army in November 1930 and from debut he was an ever-present in goal for Villa until the end of that season after which he moved on to Dulwich Hamlet in August 1931 after his contract was cancelled.

Reg was the 42nd custodian of the Villa goal in League and Cup football.

Ironically Reg had proved himself a statistically decent ‘keeper during his brief Villa career conceding 23 in his 16 games at a rate of 1.44 goals per game which compared favourably to his contemporaries such as Percy Maggs (2.07) and Fred Biddleston (1.57).

Reg had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee

Reg passed away in Enfield in 1978 aged 73.
