Reg Beresford

Player #392 for Aston Villa, Reginald Harold Beresford known as Reg Beresford played as a midfielder for Villa in the 1945-46 regional league season making a single appearance.

As only the FA Cup was deemed an official competition that season Reg's first team appearance was categorised as being in a ‘friendly’ fixture rather than a professional competition.

Reg was born in Walsall, just 8 miles from Villa Park, on 3 June 1921 and played in his sole game for Villa at the age of 25.

Reg moved on to Birmingham City without making a further appearance for the club in September 1946.

Reg had played in the regional league season under manager Alex Massie.

Reg celebrated his 100th birthday on 3 June 2021.
