Jack Hindle
Player #424 for Aston Villa, John R. Hindle known as Jack Hindle, played as a goalkeeper for the club.
Jack played for Villa in 1950-51 making 15 appearances.
Jack was born in Preston on 18 November 1921 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Wednesday, 13 September 1950 at the age of 28.
Villa had signed Jack from Barrow in June 1950 and he went on to play regularly for the first team between September and December 1950 before Ken Jones and then Joe Rutherford returned to the side.
At 6ft 10.5in and 12st 6lb Jack was considerably larger that Villa’s other goalkeeping options on his arrival and was considered to be ideally built for the job.
Jack had made an astonishing 92 consecutive appearances for former club Barrow across two seasons before joining Villa ahead of the 1950-51 season but found game time more of a challenge at Villa.
Jack returned to Barrow in August 1951 after playing his final game for Villa on Tuesday, 26 December 1950
Jack had played under manager Alex Massie.
Jack passed away in Barrow on 21 January 1987 aged 65.
