Geoff Sellars
Player #427 for Aston Villa, Geoffrey Sellars, known as Geoff Sellars, played as a winger for the club in the outside right position. Geoff played for Villa in 1950-51 making two appearances.
Geoff was born in Stockport on 20 May 1930 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 21 October 1950 at the age of 20.
Geoff started as an amateur with Altrincham in the Cheshire County League before moving on to Leeds United however an infringement of the FA Rules and Regulation led to the cancellation of his contract and arrival at Villa.
Indeed Villa signed Geoff from Leeds United in August 1950 having only joined them in April of that year.
Geoff had remained in the Forces and despite showings in representative football for the Services and his signing with the Elland Road club, he actually had little football experience for his debut season with Villa. Perhaps this showed as he would make just two first team appearances for the club before his Villa career was brought to a close.
Geoff made his final appearance for Villa on Saturday, 16 December 1950 before moving to Stalybridge Celtic in August 1951 for a fee of £1,000.
Geoff had played under Villa manager George Martin.
