Eddie Follan

Player #444 for Aston Villa, Edward Harvey Follan, known as Eddie Follan, played as a forward for the club.

Eddie played for Villa in 1954-55 and 1955-56 making 36 appearances and scoring 7 goals.

Eddie was born in Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland on 3 October 1929 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 16 October 1954 aged 25.

Described as “a capable inside forward”, Villa had signed Eddie from Prescot Cables in June 1952 and he went on to make 25 league and 2 cup appearances in his debut season, contributing 7 goals.

That however was to prove the high point of Eddie’s Villa career as his final season, the following year saw no goals in 9 games.

Eddie played his final game for Villa on Saturday, 17 December 1955 aged 26 before moving on to Worcester City in May 1956.

Eddie had played under Villa manager Eric Houghton.

Eddie passed away in Birmingham on 16 May 1975 aged just 45.
