Dicky Roose

Player #223 for Aston Villa, Leigh Richmond Roose, known as Dicky Roose played as a goalkeeper for the club.

Much travelled Roose played for Villa in the 1911-12 season making 10 appearances.

Roose was born in Holt, Wrexham on 27th November 1887 and made his debut appearance for Villa at the age of 33 on the 2nd September 1911.

Villa had signed Roose from Huddersfield Town as goalkeeping cover in August 1911. Dicky was the 26th custodian of the Villa goal in League and Cup football.

Roose played the first 10 games of Villa’s season but conceded 19 goals at a rate of 1.90 goals per game.

Roose’s final game for Villa came on 23rd October 1911 and he moved on to Woolwich Arsenal the following month.

Roose played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
