Dennis Jackson

Player #460 for Aston Villa, Dennis Jackson, played as a full back for the club. Dennis played for Villa between 1956-57 and 1958-59 making 8 appearances.

Dennis was born in Birmingham, just 3 miles from Villa Park, on 8 March 1932 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Wednesday, 10 April 1957 aged 25.

Villa had signed Dennis from Hednesford Town and he signed professional forms with the club in October 1954 and he appeared for the club twice in his debut season however he was not part of the victorious 1956-57 FA Cup campaign that led to the 2-1 triumph over Manchester United in the final held at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of 99,225 when Peter McParland scored twice to win Villa the Cup for a record seventh time.

Dennis made his most appearances in a single season - 5 - in 1958-59 but had the misfortune to experience relegation to the Second Division come season end.

That was to prove Dennis’ final season playing his final game for Villa on Saturday, 3 January 1959 aged 26 before moving on to Millwall United in May 1959 following Villa’s relegation.

Dennis had played under managers Eric Houghton and Joe Mercer.

Dennis passed away in Sandwell on 20 March 2014 aged 82.
