Billy Myerscough
Player #459 for Aston Villa, William Henry Myerscough, known as Billy Myerscough, played as a forward for the club.
Billy played for Villa between 1956-57 and 1958-59 making 73 appearances and scoring 17 goals.
Billy was born in Farnworth, Bolton on 22 June 1930 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 15 December 1956 aged 26.
Villa had signed Billy from Walsall in exchange for Villa centre forward Davy Walsh in July 1955.
During his time with Villa Billy won the 1957 FA Cup with the victorious 1956-57 FA Cup campaign including the 2-1 triumph over Manchester United in the final held at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of 99,225 when Peter McParland scored twice to win Villa the Cup for a record seventh time.
Billy also helped Villa reach the FA Cup Semi Final in 1958-59 but had the misfortune to experience relegation to the Second Division with Villa that same season.
Billy played his final game for Villa on Wednesday, 29 April 1959 aged 28 before moving on to Rotherham United in July 1959 following Villa’s relegation.
Billy had played his Villa career under managers Eric Houghton and Joe Mercer.
Billy passed away in Glossop on 16 March 1977 aged just 46.
