Bill Randle

Player #102 for Aston Villa, Walter William Randle, known as Bill Randle played as a winger for the club in a position then known as an outside right. Bill made only one appearance for Villa, in the 1893-94 season.

Bill was born in Aston, less than a mile from Villa’s current ground, on 21st August 1870 and made his only appearance for the club as a 23 year old on 11th November 1893.

Villa had signed Bill from Aston Unity before moving on to Leek FC. Despite playing just once, Bill made a contribution to the 1893-94 title winning campaign playing in the 2-1 win over Sunderland at Wellington Road that kickstarted a 6 game winning run.

Bill had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Bill passed away from a sudden illness in Edinburgh on 13th February 1908 aged just 38.
