Biography
Bill Renneville
Player #217 for Aston Villa, William Thomas James Renneville, known as Bill Renneville and nicknamed Pepper played as a centre forward for the club.
Bill played for Villa in the 1910-11 season making 2 appearances.
Bill was born in Mullingar, Ireland on 16th April 1884 and made his debut appearance for Villa at the age of 26 on the 10th September 1910.
Villa had signed Bill from Leyton in May 1910. Bill made the jump from non-league to the reigning champions and despite his diminutive stature - at 5ft 0” the smallest ever first team player for Villa - he more than made up for it with a battering ram, combative style.
Bill scored in his second and final outing for Villa before succumbing to injury, an injury that put paid to his league football ambitions.
Bill did return to football at a succession of non-league clubs through to his retirement in the mid-1920s.
Bill played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Bill passed away in Birmingham on 19th April 1943 aged 59.
