Player #197 for Aston Villa, Gilbert Horace Hugo Turner, known as Bert Turner and Horace Turner, played as a goalkeeper for the club.

Bert represented Villa between 1907-08 and 1910–11.

Bert was born in Bolton on 6th March 1887 and made his debut for the club at the age of 30 on the 14th September 1907.

Villa had signed Bert from Accrington Stanley in August 1907 and he went on to appear 15 times over his 3 seasons with the club.

Bert was the 22nd custodian of the Villa goal in League and Cup football.

During his time with the Villa they won the 1909-10 League title but Bert didn’t make an appearance that season.

In Bert’s 15 appearances he conceded 28 goals at a ratio of 1.87 goals per game, keeping 4 clean sheets.

Bert played his final game for Villa on 11th February 1911 aged 33 and moved on to Pontypridd.

Bert played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Bert passed away in July 1957 aged 80.
