Arthur Millar

Millar played for Villa in the 1900-01 and 1901-02 seasons making 10 appearances - all in League football.
Millar was born in Rossie Island, Scotland on 26th January 1877 and was signed by Villa from Millwall Athletic for £250 after impressing in the minnow’s as an Third Round FA Cup giant killing of Villa in the 1899-00 campaign.
Millar made just one league appearance in the 1900-01 as Villa finished 15th, making his debut in the 0-4 Division One loss against Manchester City on Saturday, 27 April 1901 aged 24.
Millar was far more prominent in 1901-02 making 9 starts and helping Villa to achieve a much more healthy 8th place finish.
Millar, described as a “hard, resolute defender”, was to only have a brief career with Villa - he returned to Millwall Athletic on loan between February and May 1903 before returning to the club permanently.
Millar had made his final appearance for Villa in the 1-2 Division One loss against Newcastle United on Saturday, 5 April 1902 aged 25.
Millar had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Arthur passed away in Sussex in 1929 aged 52.
