Villa lose for the third time in five to make it four wins, two draws and six defeats in their twelve division one games this season.
Meanwhile, winger Albert Hall made his final appearance for Villa aged 31 before moving on to Millwall in December 1922. Albert had made 214 appearances and scored 61 goals across his eleven seasons with the club, winning the 1904-05 FA Cup and 1909-10 League title.
Also making their final appearance was Charlie Slade after three starts aged 22 before moving on to Huddersfield Town in August 1922.
