Albert Allen lays on two goals as 12-man Derby are beaten.
Villa win without being at their best however in a hitherto unseen move, Derby arrive with 10 listed men as their Bakewell is delayed. Derby name Shaw as an interim replacement. During the first half Derby centre forward Luckett is injured and has to retire from play. When Bakewell finally appears at half time, he joins the Derby line up, whilst Shaw is retained on the pitch in the absence of Luckett. Football's first substitution?
Half Back Fred Dawson made his final Villa appearance at the age of 30 before retiring from football through injury.
